At ISPO Munich 2024, Europe’s largest sports and outdoor trade fair, tent manufacturers from across the globe gathered to showcase the latest in sustainable and performance-driven design. The theme of sustainability dominated the exhibition floor, with leading brands such as MSR, Vaude, and Robens unveiling tents crafted from recycled materials and free of PFCs.
MSR (Mountain Safety Research) debuted its new Hubba Hubba NX Green, which features a 100% recycled rainfly and vestibule made from solution-dyed polyester, reducing water and energy use by over 50%. German brand Vaude introduced a range of trekking tents built using climate-neutral production methods, paired with bluesign®-certified fabrics. Their flagship Hogan SUL model now uses recycled polyamide and comes in plastic-free packaging.
Robens, known for its Scandinavian-inspired tents, revealed its ‘Green Edition’ line, aimed at eco-conscious backpackers. The new tents use bamboo tent poles and recycled ripstop fabrics reinforced with plant-based coatings. Visitors were particularly drawn to the interactive displays where they could test waterproofing and wind resistance in controlled environments.
The event featured panels and workshops on circular economy in the tent industry, sustainable material sourcing, and lightweight structural engineering. Across the board, the integration of environmentally responsible practices with modern outdoor design was the highlight of the 2024 ISPO Munich tent showcase.
